Hulhumale is an artificial island in Maldives located south of the North Male Atoll and connected to the airport by a causeway. Linked to the airport (Hulhule island) by dam and roadway, Hulhumale also connected with the capital of Male by ferry transfer and is a budget to stay before early flight or after a late arrival in the Maldives.
It spreads across 188 hectares and is a perfect fusion of urban life with the delights of island life. It houses the popular Hulhumale Beach located on the sunrise side of the island. The beachfront road is ideal for a walk and houses some resorts and cafes. Other attractions here are Central Park, Fruit & Vegetable Market, and some mosque.
The purpose of developing Hulhumale was to reduce the amount of congestion in Male, Maldives’ capital city. The result was a beautiful green island that despite its artificiality, looks more natural and mystical than most islands in the Maldives.
Maafushi Island with its expansive choice of budget accommodation is a popular cheap destination in South Male Atoll and it is the capital of budget tourism in Maldives. With healthy reefs, fascinating dive sites, white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, luxury resorts and many other attractions, Maafushi is a beautiful island located just 35 minutes by speedboat.
Maafushi is a magnificent little island, with wide alleyways and a lack of transport, with the exception of a few motorbikes. The island has two beaches, a public beach and Bikini Beach.
Maafushi is a laid-back, barefoot island surrounded by a rich eco-system of coral reefs, where the clear warm waters are ideal for water sports, snorkeling and scuba diving.
The ocean around Maafushi is simply fantastic – very clean, crystalline and refreshing water, and there are some snorkeling spots.
Thulusdhoo is a locally inhabited island situated 23 km away from Male’ International Airport. 20 Minute Speed-Boat Transfer from Male Airport. The island of Thulusdhoo features the best of what the Maldives offers: a crystal, clear turquoise lagoon and white sandy beaches.
Most famous for being close to two of the Maldives’ best surf breaks, Cokes and Chickens, it’s safe to say that Thulusdhoo is a surfer’s paradise. Surf can be done throughout the year but is best between the months of April and November. The North Male’ atoll is also home to a number of other surf breaks, including Honkeys, Jailbreaks and Sultans, which are easily accessible by a short speedboat ride.
Thulusdhoo has a beautiful house reef that is home to a high diversity of corals and marine life, including colourful, reef-dwelling fish species, marine turtles, manta rays, dolphins and more. There are also a number of additional snorkelling spots, coral gardens and dive spots nearby.
