Arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport, met & greeted by tour guide. Visit Wat Ounalom Monastery and visit Norodom Sihanouk Memorial and The Independence Monument (“Vimean Akareach”) in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, was built in 1958 for Cambodia’s independence from France in 1953. Breakfast at the hotel, today you will visit Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda. Located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures found inside include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90kilograms and a small 17th-century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. In the afternoon, we visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed. Then drive to visit the “Killing Fields” of Choeng Ek (15 km south of Phnom Penh). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison and transported to extermination camp of Choeng Ek. After that visit Wat Phnom Temple is one of the most important pagodas in Phnom Penh. Built in 1373 on an artificial hill by the wealthy widow Daun Chi Penh. Overnight at hotel in Phnom Penh.
Breakfast at hotel, this morning, we start fantastic journey on Koh Dach (Silk Island). The experience starts with a short drive from your hotel to a local jetty north of the city where you board a small ferry taking you across the Mekong River to Silk Island. You will then start walking around villages where there is a weaving loom under every house. Friendly locals will invite you to their stilted wooden houses and demonstrate the techniques of silk and cotton weaving that have been passed down over the generations. Wind through small trails to explore small farms growing exotic vegetables in the fertile soil and pass by small schools and colorful pagodas. To circumnavigate the island, you will ride for approximately 25km, but the length of the trip can be tailored to individual fitness and ability levels. After afternoon, and explore the National Museum’s collection of Khmer art, which displays over 5,000 objects including statues and other artifacts from Angkor Wat. We will have time this afternoon to explore Psar Toul Tom Pong, also called the Russian Market”, where anything and everything is for sales. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
After breakfast at hotel, check out and free time with your own leisure until pick up and transferred to airport for your next destination. End tour with sweet memories!
